As a fitness enthusiast, I am often asked why muscle mass is so incredibly important for our general health. It’s a great question and one that warrants an answer. In this article, I will discuss the many benefits of having strong muscles and why our muscle mass is so incredibly important for our general health.

First of all, it’s important to understand what exactly muscle mass is. Muscle mass is the amount of lean tissue in your body that helps you move around and perform various activities. This includes skeletal muscles (the ones we can see on the outside) as well as internal organs like the heart and lungs. Having adequate muscle mass allows us to perform everyday tasks with ease, such as walking, lifting objects or running up stairs.

We build muscle mass through resistance training, either by lifting weights or using resistance bands. It takes time to build muscle, but the benefits are numerous, as I will tell you below.

There are many reasons why having adequate muscle mass is important for our general health. For starters, having strong muscles helps protect our bones from injury by providing support and stability when we move around. This reduces the risk of fractures or other injuries caused by falls or accidents due to weakened bones or joints.

In addition, having strong muscles also has many cardiovascular benefits. Research shows that those with higher levels of muscle mass have better blood pressure readings than those with lower levels of muscle mass due to increased circulation throughout the body from contracting muscles during exercise or physical activity. Additionally, having more muscle means burning more calories throughout the day which can help maintain a healthy weight and reduce the risk of obesity-related illnesses such as type 2 diabetes or heart disease.

Having stronger muscles can also improve posture by helping us stand taller and straighter which can reduce back pain from sitting at a desk all day long or other types of repetitive strain injuries caused by poor posture over time. Furthermore, stronger muscles can help prevent osteoporosis because they provide extra support for aging bones which keeps them strong and healthy even into old age.

Finally, strong muscles are essential in maintaining balance which reduces falls in elderly people who already suffer from reduced bone density due to age-related conditions like osteoporosis or arthritis. Having good balance also helps athletes perform better while reducing their chances of getting injured during practice or competitions due to poor coordination or instability on their feet!

Of course there are many other benefits associated with having adequate muscle mass but these are just some examples to give you an idea of how important it is for overall health and wellbeing! There are plenty of ways to increase your muscle mass safely without risking injury including resistance training (weightlifting), high intensity interval training (HIIT), yoga/pilates classes etc., but always make sure you speak to a professional before starting any new exercise regime if you’re unsure about anything!
