As an avid nature lover and outdoor enthusiast, I’ve always been a firm believer in the healing power of walking. I live in The Cotswolds in the UK – an area of outstanding natural beauty – which got me walking regularly, purely to take it all in; I now walk 20,000 steps a day. But why do I walk? Throughout human evolution, walking has been an essential part of our daily lives. Whether it was for hunting or gathering food, or simply to explore our environment, we’ve been walking since the dawn of time.
Today, thanks to modern advances in technology and transportation, we don’t have to rely on walking nearly as much as we used to. However, this doesn’t mean that walking can’t still provide us with tremendous health benefits. In fact, studies show that regular walks can have a major impact on physical and mental well-being.
First off, let’s talk about the physical benefits of walking. Walking is an excellent form of exercise that helps strengthen your muscles and bones while also improving your cardiovascular health. All in all – there’s no denying the amazing healing power that comes from taking regular walks throughout your day-to-day life! From improving physical health through increased muscle strength and bone density; reducing anxiety levels; increasing creativity; providing clarity when facing difficult emotions; all the way down to just having some quality alone time – there really isn’t anything quite like it!
