The first step to a modern day marketing strategy is building an online platform for your business. The first thing anyone does when they need to find something online is to google it. Google is the first port of call for anyone who wants to find out about your business, and because of this, a website is crucial.

Making a simple website for your business isn’t as difficult as you may think, and in fact you can use a simple CMS system such as WordPress or Wix to create a simple and effective site for your company. All you need to do is choose a template and fill in your information. It will be a good idea to buy a domain name from GoDaddy as well to make sure that you can protect your brand name.

Social Media – it’s a Must

Social media is the epitome of the modern day technology user. With multiple different platforms and millions of user each day; learning how to use social media for your business is essential. There are different types of content which lend themselves to different platforms, for example, YouTube is all about video content, whereas Instagram is the home to your online gallery. You will need to find your way around these platforms and work out a schedule of posting to really engage your audience.

Consistency, yes Consistency

The main part of planning a successful social media strategy is knowing that consistent activity is key to growth. You ideally will want to be posting multiple times a day to gain a following quickly and get more visitors to your website. But don’t fret; you don’t need to spend hours each day posting on social media, you can instead use a scheduling app such as Buffer to plan ahead.

Events, Trade Shows and Networking

Another great way to market your business is to go out and speak to people face to face. Trade Shows and events such as flower shows or local fetes. Hiring an event management organiser company can make your life easier and enable you to make a good impression with your customer base in a public place. Talking to clients face to face can improve your relationship and increase your chance of successful sales.


Search Engine Optimisation sounds like a scary phrase, but it’s actually pretty simple. The idea is that when you search something on a search engine, you will see the most relevant results at the top of the results. Adding keywords to your site can make your content more likely to be seen on a search engine and your site to rank more highly.
