What can You Drink to Stay in Ketosis?

Estimated reading time: 3 mins

I’ve been on a ketogenic diet for a while now, and I’ve had to figure out the best drinks to keep me in ketosis. The whole point of the diet is to stay in a state of ketosis – where your body burns fat for energy instead of carbohydrates. It can be hard to find drinks that don’t interfere with this process. After some trial and error (and lots of research), I’ve put together this article about what you can drink to stay in ketosis!

What can you drink in ketosis?

First off, let’s talk about water. Water is essential for any healthy lifestyle – especially when on a keto diet. Staying hydrated helps your body function optimally, so make sure you’re drinking enough throughout the day. If you want something with flavor, try adding lemon or lime slices or cucumber slices for a refreshing twist. You can also try sparkling water if you need more carbonation.

Next up: coffee and tea. Coffee is an excellent source of antioxidants, making it great for overall health – plus it gives you an extra boost of energy when needed! Aim for black coffee without added sugar or creamers; adding any kind of dairy will kick you out of ketosis due to its high carbohydrate content. Tea is another great option; opt for unsweetened versions like green tea or herbal teas like peppermint or chamomile.

Next on the list: zero-calorie beverages like seltzer and sparkling waters are perfect if you’re looking for something bubbly without added sugar or calories. Many brands offer flavored options as well; just be sure to check the label before purchasing, as some have added sugar which could kick you out of ketosis quickly!

Now that we know what drinks are okay, let’s focus on what beverages should be avoided while trying to remain in Ketosis: sugary drinks, juices and sodas are all no-gos since they have too much sugar (which leads to higher blood sugar levels). Alcoholic beverages are also not recommended since they contain ’empty calories’ from carbs that will kick you out quickly!

A warning about ‘Keto-Friendly Drinks’

Finally, there are several ‘keto friendly’ drinks available specifically designed to help keep people in ketosis such as Keto Blast™ shakes , Keto Sports™ drinks, and Keto Coaches® electrolyte drops. These types of products often contain MCT (medium chain triglyceride) oil – an ingredient linked with increased fat burning potential – along with other ingredients intended to support metabolic health during periods of low carb consumption. Additionally these products may provide key minerals and vitamins often lacking in low carb diets. While these type products may be helpful in staying in Ketosis they should not replace whole foods but rather be used sparingly when needed.

Conclusion

In conclusion there are many different beverages that you can consume while trying to remain in Ketosis, such as water, black coffee, black tea, seltzer and sparkling waters etc … However you should always take caution when consuming food and beverage choices while trying maintain their desired level of ketosis by paying attention nutritional labels and understanding how certain ingredients may affect their individual metabolic state. Additionally there are specific ‘keto-friendly’ products available which could potentially support your efforts towards remaining within dietetic parameters – however these should only be consumed occasionally and never used as full meal replacements. And, always read the label!
