Estimated reading time: 3 mins

With everything that is happening in the world right now, it is hard to think of anything else apart from it health and our families, but a huge part of our lives has been changed and taken away from us: our career

If you are one of the many people around the world who have either been furloughed, let go or shut down during this period, it might be time to take a hard look at your career path and decide what it is you really want to do.

Many of us live life less than happy with our jobs, but now that work has been taken away from many of us it is a good chance to take stock of our ambitions and skills and think of the possibilities.

It’s quarantine

As mentioned above, COVID-19 has changed the dynamic of many companies and forced many to close temporarily while the pandemic rages on. However, this pause can be a good thing for you if you were unhappy in your job or lacking inspiration for what you wanted to do. Checking out sites such as CareerAdviceGuy.com might give you some great ideas on where you want to be and is the ideal time for you to take an online course and train for the job you want.

The atmosphere

There is nothing worse than working in a place where everyone else is miserable and bitchy. Sadly, there are many places out there that make work a living hell for their employees and if you feel this way, it is time for you to move on and find something you love and surround yourself with positive people and a flexible environment. Luckily, many modern companies have changed the way working culture is and most companies do offer better environments for their employees.

The business feels wrong

Sometimes you have a gut feeling, and if you have that feeling about the credibility and the legitimacy of the business you work for, you should get out ASAP because it could be incredibly risky to stay. If you believe that your business is doing something unethical, the best port of call is to get out of the business and report your suspicions to those who can look into it.

Your team is crazy talented

If you notice that the people surrounding you are more talented than you are, it is a good idea for you to get out and find something else before the company lets you go. It may seem melodramatic however, if you feel like you may be let go for someone else, it is best to make the first move and get a job doing something you are incredibly good at or something you really want to do.

You daydream a lot

One of the signs that your job is not fulfilling your dreams and hopes is if you find yourself zoning out during the day. If you find yourself bored and daydreaming about other things during the working day, this is a huge sign that you need a career change. There’s no point wasting away in a job you are bored of when you could find something you are truly passionate about instead.

There’s no room to grow

It is crucial that when you build your career for the future that you have the ability to grow and gain promotions. Every job you do during your life will be working up to the next stage, because you don’t want to be stuck earning the same wage and not being able to learn and grow. If you are working for a smaller company for example, make sure that you have prospects and if not, use the time as experience but be ready to grow.

You’re always tired

The worst thing that can happen if you work at a job for a long time is chronic fatigue. Chronic fatigue is a huge issue and it can cause many issues such as stress and health problems down the line. It is important to remember that the purpose of a job is to make money to support your family and your lifestyle. It is not something that should overtake your life and leave you unable to do anything else. If your job makes you tired constantly and makes you not want to do anything in your free time, you need to make a change.

If you notice any of these signs, it is time for you to take a look at other options for your career where you can grow, thrive, and love your life.
