Estimated reading time: 2 mins

Whilst there are a number of things that you can do to build your online presence, there are also several things you should avoid in order to make sure that your plan goes as scheduled. PPC management is just one route you can take when looking to make an impact fast!

We’re taking a closer look, below.

Do’s

Building an online presence sounds easy – but is it? The answer is no. Building an online presence is not going to happen in a day nor overnight. Afterall, Rome wasn’t built in a day! Here’s what you need to know:

  • Optimise Your Content

In order for your site to rank high in the SERPs, you need to optimise your content. Essentially, the higher rank your website is, the more optimised it is, meaning that people will be able to find it more easily. By optimising your websites content, you can also ensure that people will share and return to your site. Ensuring that your site features high-quality content is also an effective way to further increase the traffic to your website.

  • Meet Demands

Your website needs to meet the demands of consumers. To achieve this, you need to have a good understanding of your audience, their needs and demands. You need to make sure that your websites loading speed is fit for purpose and that it can handle high amounts of traffic, as you can never be too prepared for when a visitor strike is about to hit!

Don’ts

Of course, there are a few things you don’t want to do whilst building your online presence. We’re taking a closer look at the top two don’ts below.

  • Disregard Web Design

Your web design is just as important as the content that you paste onto your website’s pages, so you need to pay as much attention to this as everything else featured on your site. But why? Your web design is a steppingstone used to showcase how trustworthy the site itself is and, more importantly, your business. Due to this, you want to make sure that it accurately represents your brand by ensuring that it features colour to help drive your branding forward and looks professional even at a glance.

  • Misuse Social Media

There are several benefits of using social media for business, not least the opportunity to get your brand on another platform! Like most things, social media will only benefit your brand if it is used correctly meaning that you have to consider what is and what isn’t appropriate to post – even if it’s trending in the hashtags section! To ensure that your social media channels perfectly with your web design, be sure to design your header images in line with your site! Remember: consistency is key.

Whilst there are numerous ways to build your online presence, there are somethings you will want to do and some you will want to leave on your computer screen. With 2020 now just around the corner, how do you hope to ensure your marketing strategy is on point this New Year?
