50 Things About Me That You Probably Didn’t Know or Care About
- I am married to Claire
- We have a 3 year old Son, James
- I have four brothers, all younger
- We live in Nailsworth, England
- My Myers-Briggs type indicator is INTP
- I work as Chief Innovation Officer for a financial services organization
- I was born in Manchester, in the north west of England
- My favorite place is Hawaii, where I went on my honeymoon
- I also like Vegas, where we also stopped off on honeymoon and was remarried by Elvis
- I am a MBA graduate
- As well as a BSc graduate in Computer Science
- More recently I became a qualified eMentor, and eTutor (Level 3)
- I’d like to do a PhD, but to be honest it’s only because I’d like to choose to be called Dr Stapleton
- My passion is personal growth and development
- And I love to share this with other people
- And help them develop too
- My previous employers were Microsoft, Oracle, and a string of US startups, particularly through the DotCom boom, and bust
- My most famous failed project was BOO.COM
- In my career I have been in roles focused on 1st line support, consulting, network security, web development, and management
- My favorite kind of work is complex and challenging problems in a pressured environment
- I am not as effective in a steady state
- I love a good crisis
- Most of my experience is in financial services
- I have written articles for several IT industry magazines
- And have had two articles featured on the British Computer Society website
- I have been quoted in the Washington Post on the subject of reverse headhunting using social media
- And contributed to two books about social media and Web2.0, coming out this year

- I think, one day, I will turn my hand to becoming a serious author of books
- But not necessarily an author of serious books
- I am a cancer survivor
- I am a much happier and relaxed person after surviving cancer
- I am 6′4″ tall

- I prefer rugby than football
- I enjoy photography, but I consider myself an total amateur at present
- I am useless at golf, which is why I am taking lessons
