Mitsubishi: Should You Buy New or Used?

Mitsubishi is a brand that’s well known to the American auto consumer. You’ll see many of them on the road. That’s due to their dependability, generous warranty offers, and reasonable price points.

If you want one, you can always consider a new Mitsubishi for sale, but maybe you are more comfortable buying used. Perhaps you are undecided.

If so, it’s helpful to consider a few crucial factors. Let’s look at some of those right now.

How Much Money Do You Have to Spend?

Whether you buy a used or new Mitsubishi will certainly depend a great deal on how much money you have to spend. You likely have a set amount that you can’t exceed.

If that number puts you at a price point where you can buy new, then it makes sense to do so for several reasons. However, if you simply can’t afford the price of the brand-new model you want, then you will have little choice but to settle for used.

Do You Want a More Generous Warranty?

Maybe you have a little more flexibility in regards to the vehicle’s price range. You could buy new, but you can also buy used with no problems.

You might want to consider how generous of a warranty you want. While buying used will cost you less, you will likely not get as lengthy of a warranty.

A brand-new Mitsubishi often comes with a two or three-year warranty. That can make a difference in terms of the upfront price you pay versus what you’ll have to spend on the vehicle after you have owned it for a while.

In short, a brand-new car will cost you more upfront, but then you probably won’t have to worry about spending any money to repair it for two or three years afterward. Buying used means putting up less money upfront, but then you may have costly repairs to deal with sooner rather than later.

Are You Concerned with Modern Safety Features?

If you want more modern safety features, then you should probably opt for new rather than used. There are safety features that come standard with a brand-new MItsubishi vehicle that you can’t get with an older one.

Do You Want to Finance the Vehicle or Purchase It Outright?

There is one final factor that you’ll have to consider, and that’s whether you want to purchase the vehicle outright or finance it. Maybe you have enough money to buy the vehicle outright if you purchase it used. If you do that, then there is no monthly car payment.

However, maybe you have financing in place if you want to buy a brand-new one. You’ll get the benefits that come with a new car, but you’ll also have that monthly bill to worry about. You will also probably have to pay interest on the money you borrowed.

Consider each of these factors with the utmost care. By doing so, you should figure out what you prioritize and whether buying used or new makes sense
