Stress is a natural part of life and everyone at some point or another deals with some form of stress. While useful in a life or death situation, long periods of stress can take a toll on the human mind. When you’re running your own firm, daily responsibilities and deadlines can quickly lead to stress, and if you don’t know how to deal with it, you could be putting your health at risk, not to mention the integrity of your business. So, to make sure that neither of these things happens, take a look at these ways you can take the load off your back.

No matter whether you’re running a large or small business, you’ll have plenty on your plate to keep you going. And you shouldn’t have to do it alone! Every business needs a second in command to not only help with the workload but to help manage the team, step into your shoes should needs arise, and back you up with employees, clients, or even investors.

We live in a world where technology is now the centre of everything, and if you have a multitude of devices being used within the office it can be difficult to keep track of everything, not to mention ensure that everyone is synced up. Save time and headaches with mobile device management rather than losing track of important deadlines, or risking your employees visiting websites that could potentially attack your business.

When you’ve got a list as long as your arm to complete each day it’s easy to lose track of time. It’s even easier to become engrossed in a particular task that might seem more pressing than the others. However, doing this can lead to either a larger workload or even more deadlines creeping up on you. Luckily, time management tools can help delegate your work into segments so that not only can you spend the right amount of time on each one, but it doesn’t look so daunting. Not only that, most time management tools schedule breaks into your day too – and you should take them! A rested mind will work more productively and accurately than a rushed and tired mind. Implement workforce platforms

Communication in the workplace is essential, but when people are in and out of the office either on breaks or on the road, it can be hard to make sure everyone is getting the information they should have. That’s where workforce platforms come in. Platforms such as Basecamp 3 and Slack are a tried and tested way of reaching your employees seamlessly and they work so well because they come with mobile apps, meaning even those out of the office will get the information they need.

Look after your physical health to help your mental health

Physical and mental health go hand in hand, and it’s likely that if your mental health is suffering, so is your physical health in one way or another. Look at what you’re putting in your body…could it be improved? Did you know that junk food can mimic the symptoms of stress, depression and anxiety? The same goes for alcohol and caffeine. While it’s perfectly okay to enjoy all of these once in a while, make sure that you’re eating a cleaner diet, cutting back on alcohol and caffeine, and most definitely cutting out any other substances such as drugs. Once you’ve sorted your physical health, you should notice an improvement in your mental health too.

Stress can come from tension in the workplace, especially if your team is a newly built force. It takes people time to bond, time for them to trust each other but as you know, you don’t have that time when it comes to your business. Arrange team building exercises so that your team can bond faster and any current tensions can be released. While tension in the workplace can arise at any time, giving your team the tools to resolve it will help keep the stress off your back.

Consider outsourcing

There will be a plethora of jobs that crop up at work that won’t require you to hire someone permanently, yet you still need someone to take the workload on. This is where outsourcing comes in. Sign yourself up to websites like Upwork and Fiverr, list the job at hand, and let freelancers contact you for the role at hand. All you have to do then is sit back and watch the completed work roll in. The great thing about hiring freelancers is that at the end of it all, you can keep their details if you’re happy with their work to contact them in the future if needs be (just make sure you get their permission first).

Don’t take things so seriously

Finally, while your business is very important to you and should be taken very seriously, not everything has to be so straight and plain. Have fun with what you’re doing! After all, what’s life without a bit of fun here and there? Allowing yourself and your team to have some fun on the job will help lift your stress levels and also make you a more favourable boss!
