Right now, job security has never been more uncertain. As technology continues to advance, and societies change, jobs are going to become obsolete faster than any previous time in history.
What that means is, that if you still have the majority of your working life ahead of you, you’re going to have to look at your career options very carefully. To help you with that, here are some careers that will always be in demand, no matter what else happens:
Fixers and Creators
No matter how good technology gets, there is always going to be a need for people who can build and repair said technologies. I’m sure one day in the dim and distant future, we’ll have machines that can heal themselves, but I doubt any of us are going to be alive to see that day. So, if you want to ensure you’re never out of work, learn how to fix or create, or preferably both, and you’ll always be in high demand.
Even when we have great technology at our disposal, we need people with vision. Having technology is all well and good, but if you don’t know what to do with it, then what use is it really? If you’re a smart, competent person with ideas and the ability to leads people to do their best work and think their best thoughts, there’s a career in leadership waiting for you. So, maybe take a leadership course or enroll on a management degree and start preparing for a bright future.
If you want to 100 percent guarantee the security of your future, it’s time to start studying those anatomy posters, because if you can gain a medical degree or even qualify as a nurse, you will always be needed. I know we can do amazing things now, but I doubt we’ll ever be able to completely wipe out illness and injury, so your job should be safe. You can be qualified and look for the best jobs for nurses as long as you have the right skill sets and passion towards helping others.
If becoming a doctor isn’t for you, why not consider a future as a caregiver? It might not be the most glamorous career path to take, but as the population increases and as we all get older, more of us are going to need taking care of, so it should be a pretty safe option to pursue.
Education is vital if we want to survive and thrive as a species. So, although I’m sure that the form education takes will change over the years, I’m also sure that we are going to continue to require teachers and educators for many years to come. I mean, we at least need to teach people how to create and manage all that advanced technology, right?
Again, I’m sure that the technology used to build houses, skyscrapers and malls will change and improve ads the years go by, but I can’t see it changing so much that there does not have to be a human hand in the process. We all need safe places to live, and having an actual human oversee the process is the best way to ensure we get exactly that.
