@Dave - exactly my friend! Who wants to keep a trouble-causer and gossip around when there are grafters who get on with their work?

Our boss is probably as nervous about the job situation as we are. They can lose their job too. In fact, it's the middle managers that are going quicker than anyone else. If it is me that goes, it effects my boss too as there is nobody to do my work. Our boss loses, either way, if job cuts are certain.

Another thing I think we forget is our boss is in the same boat we are and may be under all the same pressures. He/She's just human like us after all.

If you want to do something proactive to keep your job, stay focused, keep adding value and try to make your boss' job maybe just a little easier. It might be a small thing for you, but having been in those shoes, it's a bit thing from the bosses perspective - one less thing to worry about.

And if there ever is a need to cut staff, who would you cut? The gossiping, rumor spreading employee everyone knows is looking for a new job, or the person that's made my life a little bit easier over the last month?

Hmmmm...
